Ina Hommers heads the second largest portfolio that GIZ implements on behalf of the German Government in Africa. A formerly trained journalist and political scientist, she has more than ten years of expertise in international development cooperation. Prior to taking up her current role as Country Director, she advised governments and private sector on the application of renewable energy, energy efficiency and climate investments as GIZ project lead in Nigeria and Uganda. GIZ has worldwide operations in the fields of international cooperation for sustainable development and works with its partners to develop effective solutions that offer people better prospects and sustainably improve their living conditions. GIZ is a public-benefit federal enterprise and supports the German Government and a host of public and private sector clients in a wide variety of areas. In Nigeria and for the ECOWAS, these include economic development and employment promotion, energy and the environment, agriculture, peace and security.
