Jumoke Oduwole

Special Adviser to the President on ease of doing business

Dr Oduwole is the Special Adviser to the President on Ease of Doing Business in the office of the Vice President. She also serves as pioneer Executive Secretary to the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) chaired by Vice President, and coordinates the activities of its secretariat, a reformational office working to make Nigeria a progressively easier place to start and grow a business.

Some of the implemented reforms include: working with the National Assembly to re-enact Nigeria’s landmark corporate legislation, the Corporate and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020 after 30 years. PEBEC also contributed to both Finance Acts 2019 and 2020 with relief provisions for SMEs, and was pivotal in securing more opportunities to access credit for small businesses through the successful passage of the Credit Reporting Act (2017) and the Secured Transactions in Movable Assets Act (2017), which underpinned the legal basis for our Credit Bureaus and the National Collateral Registry (NCR) respectively.
Dr. Jumoke Oduwole is a respected global thought leader in her field and she is a highly sought after speaker and contributor. She serves as a Trustee of the Mandela Institute for Development Studies (MINDS), an Africa-wide think tank on governance, economic development, and evolution of African institutions and has sat on a number of Boards, including Ecobank Nigeria. She is a 2013 Archbishop Desmond Tutu Fellow of the prestigious African Leadership Institute.
